Iām Jessica
I am a writer, with a particular interest in parenting and disability. My memoir, The Cracks That Let the Light In, is about the first ten years of raising my disabled son.
My essay, My Body For His, was shortlisted for the Curae Prize 2023 and published in the Curae Anthology.
My writing has been published in You magazine, Good Housekeeping and The Guardian. I am invited on radio programmes on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5Live, Times Radio, Talk Radio and BBC Radio London. I speak regularly to conferences and professional groups about my experience as the mother of a disabled child, and have interviewed other parents for various publications.
I write fiction too. My short story, Expatriate, was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize in 2024.
Before writing, I worked as an architect (ARB, RIBA) and lived in Damascus and Doha. I now live in London with my family.
My literary agent is Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown.
